The Education Law Center provides valuable information for parents of children with disabilities. We highly recommend The Right to Special Education In Pennsylvania: A Guide for Parents and Advocates to help you understand your child’s rights under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
The Education Law Center also provides a very helpful guide for parents of disabilities who do not require an IEP, but still need a 504 Plan to provide accommodations, modifications or services at school to permit them to access their education.
ABOARD’s Autism Connections of PA provides education, advocacy and training for parents of children with autism navigating the special education system.
The Pittsburgh Chapter of the International Dyslexia Association helps provide education and advocacy for parents of children with reading disabilities.
In addition, the Dyslexia Center of Pittsburgh can provide free Orton Gillingham tutoring for children.
